Mrs. Hanna: Special Education Teacher - Structured Learning Environment (SLE)
Structured Learning Environment (SLE) is a special education program designed to help students develop an organized and routine schedule with well-defined boundaries, expectations, and goals. SLE integrates social skills development within academic and social settings. SLE promotes inclusion within the general education classroom and activities, while incorporating appropriate accommodations and/or modifications to help meet the specific needs of each individual student. SLE is a Kindergarten through 5th grade classroom, and values the special qualities that each student brings to our diverse learning environment.
I am a very blessed wife and mother of five beautiful children. I have experience in the field of vocational rehabilitation, helping people with special needs gain and maintain employment. After earning my graduate degree, I decided to enter the field of teaching, to help children better-prepare themselves for the world of work, and encourage them to find their highest levels of competence, confidence, and independence.
In addition to teaching in public school, I spent several years homeschooling our children, throughout my husband's military career. My children are now scattered throughout Waxahachie ISD, and I am fortunate to be apart of the Marvin Elementary family. I adore working with children with special needs, who help me experience life through a beautiful and unique lens.
