Kindergarten Overview

 

 

By the end of the Kindergarten year, students should demonstrate the ability to:

bullet  Recognize letters of the Alphabet and letter/sound matches.
bulletShow familiarity with rhyming and beginning sounds.
bulletUnderstand left-to-right and top to bottom orientation and familiar concepts of print.
bulletWrite first and last name, most letters of the alphabet, and some high frequency words.
bulletRecognize and write numbers 1 to 20.
bulletDemonstrate one-to-one correspondence.
bulletListen attentively to books teacher reads to class and retell simple narrative stories or informational text.
bulletRead text at level 2  independently.
