Kindergarten Overview
By the end of the Kindergarten year, students should demonstrate the ability to:
| Recognize letters of the Alphabet and letter/sound matches. | |
| Show familiarity with rhyming and beginning sounds. | |
| Understand left-to-right and top to bottom orientation and familiar concepts of print. | |
| Write first and last name, most letters of the alphabet, and some high frequency words. | |
| Recognize and write numbers 1 to 20. | |
| Demonstrate one-to-one correspondence. | |
| Listen attentively to books teacher reads to class and retell simple narrative stories or informational text. | |
| Read text at level 2 independently. |
